You need to have a range of different font types and to know how and when to use them. Typefaces come in all different shapes and sizes and can be categorized depending on their characteristics. Fonts can be based in different eras—most type forms were influenced by history. Classifying fonts can help you decide which style to choose and what combinations to use for your next project.
There’s no single classification system; many have been proposed. With so many variables, it’s difficult to classify fonts in specific groups. In the last few years, we’ve experienced an explosion of fonts, and many of them blur the lines of type.
In this video, learn about the different types of font classifications that have emerged throughout history. This hybrid list is sure to help you find the right font type for your next project. Lot of value addition….
@Astheniumn
Excellent breakdown. I am in awe of how much I learned and how detailed yet short this has been. Bravo to everyone involved in making this video.
@oosha2000
I started exploring and downloading the fonts back in 2014 without knowing the types as I had no idea about the categories but with the help of this video and some pages, I got to know more about fonts. Thanks a lot.

If I knew this video when I was a beginner I would save tons of hours. Really helpful, a cornerstone of any graphic designer.
@owlNolan
I love the voice. Who is it?
@prismaticbeetle3194
Simple and straight to the point
@DonswatchingtheTube
Very good, like sitting in class again (1980s).
One thing is to make sure the font has a complete range if it's going to be used with a corporate identity.
@Lucas_F_Melo
This video is pure gold!
@harshadaaupare
Thank you so much for quick and short video for the revision, some time I totally forget the types and starts to design with common version but this is really great video.
@Vinoy2231
How do serifs help viewers to follow the letterforms easily??? Anybody please answer ASAP
@microweb874
I like the details provided on the font types. But, it doesn't actually tell you much about how to use them. For some types it doesn't say anything at all. So the title is inaccurate
@captainkeyboard1007
Typography is my kind of subject. This platform features comprehensive shows than the other platforms combined. Probably, this show was made for me in mind.
@eileendooey7015
I'm so glad that I have seen this. Very interesting 🎨🎨🎨
@g_br
Thank you a lot!
But what about monospaced fonts?
@wifiiwakura2820
Great video, thank you very much
@necrifed
Is the video missing the “mono” type?
@MistaSmith
This was really good. It explained the components of typography indirectly through its application, then it explained a lot of different font categories and subcategories based on typographic choices, and then it also gave some design reasoning for choosing one font over another for a certain purpose. Thanks to the TOC it also can be used as referenced to come back to later while doing actual design work. Thanks a lot for this video.
@sourgal7635
Thank you so much for this video
@Karim_Grs
Thanks ♥️
@GSmaniamsmart
Well done video, thanks for uploading.
@TrvisXXIII
I could never remember the minutia of details when I had a typography class in college, but here it’s more interesting compared to learning about it in a classroom lol
@nicoristaniemi792

@LandyVlad_Rides
Do viewers need to have a particular font installed on their computer for that font to be used when viewing a website?
