Two years ago I was a waiter, no idea how to make a website, no past programming experiece or design of any sort (Don't even have a college degree).
I started taking courses on udemy and by chance stumbled upon FLUX channel (and also THE FUTUR) which made me discover webflow. After months I got convinced, and took his course as well along all the others I was already taking, and I gotta say, more that the course itself (which is really good), what I value the most was the community I found after signing up, which helped me tremendously. Now, I just completed a project thanks to a lead I found inside the community and also landed a job on upwork which pays me 24 dollars per hour (I'm from Italy, that kind of money for me is already good) which I started like a month ago.
So yeah, I was always reading stories about other people, on how they managed to transition from a profession to another all by themselves, and it felt really difficult, if not impossible at times, but I'm here goddamnit, the living proof that you just have to be relentless and sooner or later something is gonna click, something is going to turn in your favor.
Go on upwork, go on fiver, go everywhere, be everywhere
peace!

I've been trying to build editorial illustration freelance through cold emailing, contests, open calls, etc… I will keep pursuing it, but I feel like upwork and fiverr are a way to make a buck while still pursuing the bigger fish. But I haven't tried yet. Thanks for the breakdown – I thought both platforms were pretty much the same. I don't think I like that bidding aspect on Upwork….
@muhammadmuhsin3982
I have 5 years experience in graphic designing, is there anybody who can help me out how to create an upwork account! Thanks
@tangiechapman6219
I just got out of design school experience
@95muric
As a UI/UX designer, is it possible to get a job on Upwork just by writing without interviewing the customer?
@95muric
Hi everyone. When we receive an order for UX/UI design from Upworkt, do we need to conduct an interview with the customer? Or can I receive an order simply by writing?
@user-xv3fy4cc3l
Hey Ran, It will be worth sharing the content of a winning proposal.
Could you please share?
@alamdarjaffery4364
Hey is there lust of open projects on Fieverr i mean i see listing on upwork but not on Fieverr
@ichliebejava5115
I really wish I was in your stead getting many high budget clients while your work's quality is actually basic and low 😉
@antoniovoinovich7713
Nice piece of advice! Thanks a lot
@brooklahnson4418
You didn't answer the question
@Jhihmoac
Bottom line… Upwork is great if your looking for a third-world creator whom works for pennies-on-the-dollar…
Fiverr is great for clients that want to pay the bare minimum for creation, but be warned – much of what you will receive for your whole $5 is a rip of someone else's intellectual property and/or material!

As a starter I did exactly what you said in the last part of the video, networking. The problem I'm facing is the money I get, 300-400 bucks is a lot for a website over here, 2k for a website is max and that's the ecom websites, the big boys. So I want clients from the internet since I have more potential there to earn more money + I already have a good portfolio to show!
@georgina1738
This takes my hopes off
@mohamedakram1183
Great.
Still need some advice.
if convenient How CAN I contact YOU by whatsapp.
Thanks
Akram
@EfeeloodumBaridoolenu
How do you find clients if u never started up with them (these sites)
@loma1234561
How to get the first client?
That is the main problem! 😶
ZERO clients after two years!!!😶
@rocheuro
you also learn how to talk and organize your work with your clients, also solve problems.. it's a great learning platforms how to communicate with your "real world" potential clients in the future – i think this is a high value. no matter what money you will make. Surely very competitive people (india bangladesh) who will do some amasing work for almost free. Crazy world.
@web_masud
In the last year i got 10 clients on fiverr. I did not work regularly. Right now I'm looking for more client.
@user-dm5yr7ep1s
thanks a lot for u story

I'm a highschool student taking dual enrollment classes and I was given the opportunity to take a Google UX Design course to start building my portfolio.
It's early and I'm very confused but this path excites me since I can be creative and work with technology. Everyone's comments are very inspiring to me.
@atmoz_
I used upwork(elance what upwork bought).
When started my company was sometimes short on money. Then I was working on elance… to me it's all about selling yourself. Have a good niech (I'm Dutch and specified in logistics so carrier integration) it was quiet easy getting jobs. For sure it was quiet easy to get work (Dutch and Belgium customers) and ofcourse do your job well and pick what can lead to more work. Had a customer who was very happy and at the end did like 20 jobs for him (smaller and bigger once). Most of my customers come back and I think if your customer wants cheapest don't think that are not the customers you want to pursue.
Now use the platform for little projects but now I hire instead and rather find people to build up a relationship with so they know your code and how you work
@silveruniverse1874
one word both
@sheddybhulji8196
Thanks for the great video
@nageensohail7684

@sittichaiinthailand1
On the May 26, 2022. Buyer whose name is neoapel (FIVERR SELECT) had contacted to me and ask me to do two offers for him. One was Translation questionnaire English language to Thai language. And the second Offer was Translating questionnaire English language to Chinese language.
Before I had sent the offers to him. I told him clearly that even I can translate English language to Chinese language. But I am not a native Chinese language speaker. He said O.K. and told me to do two offers for him.
I had hard and quick to send works of those two offers on 28th May 2022, and everything was marked as completed in a few days later.
But on Friday 10th June 2022, he said his customer in mainland China had complained about my work. He said my Chinese language writing style is not correct and vocabulary also not correct. He said, he wanted me to return money to him.
I said, I willing to amend the work for him and send to him again on morning of Monday 13th June 2022. He said O.K.
But on Saturday 11th June 2022, he said, he wanted me to return money to him and he will go to find another translator to take this job. Later, he cancelled the offer and platform of Fiverr took my money and gave to him.
Is it that fair?!
When I brought this story to share in Fiverr’s forum. People there tried to defend and blamed and finally the Fiverr’s forum deleted my complaining page. Some people said, because I had mentioned name of other!? I cannot say name of guy who cheated me at the public site?! Once, I had reported Fiverr’s support. People from Fiverr’s support just defended the buyer and refused to return my money back.
I will stop to with Fiverr. It is too risky and there no guarantee to protect you from to be cheated and work for nothing just some bad buyer. Bad buyer can cheat your money easily just to blame your work.
@gozdetak5730
Thank you. Very helpful video
@Jack_sosa_daniels
I want to know what people do you look to hire so I have an idea of what I should learn present myself charge for my service
@starvingartistpodcast48
I hate these platforms. More so Fiverr and 99 Designs. They have fostered community of designers and artists to become literal "Starving Artists". It's great for the consumer! They get a steal, not so much for 🎨.
@HugoDuprez449
I started on Fiverr and the thing is you want these good testimonials.
« your marketing is a mess, did you know there a way to work not for money but for testimonials ? » just take it
@shuibabdullah4932
Hi, if i alrady have 4 good reviews on UpWork, is it realistic to get a clients fast? so less than 2 weeks ?
@sebastiannicolich6432
I'm a video editor living in a third-world country, Argentina, (So I belong to the market that everyone blames for when they say it's impossible to make good money online) and I started on Upwork on July 2021 at $7,50/h with a very minimal portfolio, and today, after only 6 months my rate is $20/h. I know it's still not enough for first-world countries but my goal is to be at $50/h at the end of the year and most likely it will happen, so I don't think it has to take 5+years to make good money. Besides, dealing with the clients in Upwork will make you VERY resilient and valuable for good clients that don't care about money and only care about end result.
@noelr1010
If you want to race to the bottom, then yeah. If you're trying to build a successful business, stay away. Cold call, go door to door, do anything else.
@kawshalyastudios9388
Man, just grow your hair.
Then you will look like Professor in Money Heist🌚❤️
@yassinedjebbari4819
I just started on Upwork 1 month ago and it's going quit well ! I got my first 2 clients in the first week using the free connects Upwork gives you at the start, and it went all good from there. Got 1K for the first month but still, it's just a start and I'm optimistic for the futur ! Good luck for everyone wanting to start !
